Job Title: Diesel Mechanic A
Job Status: Full- time
Summary:
Mechanic performs total truck repair such as engine overhaul and transmission repair. Ability to diagnose and repair both simple and involved mechanical devices/systems. Maintain current knowledge of mechanics and mechanical test equipment. Capable of troubleshooting mechanical and engine system problems. Possesses all knowledge, skills and abilities of Junior Mechanic position.
PRIMARY
Responsibilities:
Inspect mechanical, electrical, fuel, and pneumatic systems to ensure that they are in proper operating condition, including DOT inspections.
Troubleshoots and diagnoses major and minor mechanical, hydraulic and electrical problems.
Perform truck repairs including but not limited to electrical, heat, air and braking systems.
Ability to properly use testing equipment, power tools, and other shop equipment.
Complete computer-based maintenance and repair logs.
Communicate clearly and accurately on all repair issues with CSM and other mechanics about.
Maintain and secure work tools.
Clean and maintain work area.
FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
10 years of experience with certifications
Diesel engine diagnostics/overhaul with certifications
Allison a plus with certifications
Advanced Electrical
Evening shift (days if great tech and cannot pass on)
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Solid basic knowledge and understanding of diesel engine theory and basic operation (e.g. mechanic, electronic, fuel, and pneumatic systems) and the ability to perform mechanical repairs and maintenance.
Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.
Basic computer knowledge required; more experience preferred.
Graduate of mechanical/technical school or equivalent.
Prefer ASE certified, general truck repair training certifications, or OEM certificates
Manual dexterity required for performing maintenance, operating machinery and working with tools and computers.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds required.
Bend, stretch, stand, kneel, twist and climb on equipment and use proper lifting tools and techniques.
Valid driver's license per the company's vehicle policy.
Ability to work self-supervised or part of a team.
